Men's postgame

Well, it was a typical end to a roller coaster season, but that's OK.
Credit this team for hanging in there and never saying die. It was a gutty effort by both the players and ISU coach Greg McDermott.
Consider this:
After Wayned Morgan was fired last season, six players left the team early, including stars Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock. They also lost Mike Evonovich, Farnold Degand, Shawn Taggart and Tasheed Carr. Two recruits had committed to Iowa State, but backed out. So in all, Iowa State lost eight players. Eight.
Greg McDermott did the best he could with what he had. The Cyclones finished the regular season at .500 ... something to build off of. They almost finished in the top half of the Big 12 -- a win over Texas Tech would have put them as a sixth seed.
So in all, it was a solid year for the Cyclones. Nothing spectacular, however, something to build on. And with a very, very solid recruiting class on its way, next year should be interesting.
That's it for the ISU men's team this season. See you in November, Cyclones.

Good season. Do it better next year.
